GLENN LAKES HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, INC. (Special Meeting) BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING January 30, 2008 MINUTES

The meeting was called to order by President Nancy Perry at 6:30 PM.
IN ATTENDANCE: Nancy Perry, Veronique Schneider, Charles Bradford, Floyd Winters and Betty Pitt by speaker phone.
UNIT OWNERS IN ATTENDANCE: 18
FOR SENTRY MANAGEMENT: Carl Romano
A quorum was established.
PROOF OF NOTICE: The meeting notice was posted within statutory requirements.
LANDSCAPING PROPOSAL: Candie Clerkin reported about various landscaping proposals she had obtained for the various street entrances. She stated that the entrance on 44th Street should be fixed up and suggested making the wall a bit higher. She stated that A-1 Landscaping was high in cost and that their proposal would provide the same look as we currently have. Candie stated that she had walked the entrance areas with Doug from G & S several times.
Charles Bradford stated that he thinks it would be constructive to give some of this landscaping business to a firm other then A-1 Landscaping. Betty Pitt said that she agreed with Charles and also stated that she felt the bids from A-1 Landscaping have been high in cost. Betty also raised the questions about G & S references.
There was a discussion about the costs of taking down the dead pine trees and Washingtonian Palms. G & S price was $1,335.00.
Motion: Charles Bradford moved to approve G & S Landscaping proposals. Veronique Schneider seconded the motion:
Discussion: Floyd Winters stated that he would like the proposal broken down so as to have a better idea what each company was proposing. Charles Bradford answered questions about the proposals details and went over each proposal one by one and entrance by entrance. The various proposals from G & S total $ 4,432.50.
Motion: Charles again moved to approve the proposal from G & S Landscaping. Betty Pitt seconded the motion and the motion was unanimously passed.
ELECTRICAL WORK: Candie Clerkin presented and spoke about the various proposals to repair the lighting at the entrances. Charles Bradford questioned if the new lighting would be secure from vandals. Betty Pitt suggested a locking cover for the lights. Candie Clerkin also mentioned and spoke about solar powered lighting. Charles Bradford stated that we have two proposals, but one of the firms had not called back. Nancy Perry stated that the problem with the current set of lights is that they are old.
Motion: Floyd Winters moved to approve the proposal from West Bay Electric if they could describe in some detail what they intend to do.
Motion: Nancy Perry moved to table the discussion about the lighting for now.
Nancy Perry also stated that we have talked about providing underground wiring to the tennis court area so that lighting could be provided.
Owner Ron Pepka stated that he was previously a member of the Board of Directors and suggested a method be established so that these proposal could be negotiated.
Betty Pitt hung up at 7:10 PM.
Nancy Perry stated that she would like to have the Sherriff’s department come back at some future Board Meeting to discuss a Crime Watch Program.
MINUTES: Floyd Winters stated that he had two corrections to the minutes from the January 22, 2008 Board Meeting. One was the attorney Justin Zinzow stated that his firms fees were $200.00 per hour, the second was that it was previously stated that the Grounds Committee is to meet with A-1 Landscaping at least once a month.
Motion: Veronique Schneider moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Charles Bradford seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
There was a discussion about whether a county permit was required to remove the trees. Manager Carl Romano stated that the county tree ordinance stated that a permit was required. Nancy Perry stated that area where the Brazilian Pepper trees were removed is now just dirt and asked manager Carl Romano to look at the area.
Owner Harold Stiver spoke about what had been removed and stated that there are still some dead oleanders there.
Owner Rick Findley asked if A-1 routinely checks the sprinkler system and also stated that there is some dead grass along 52nd Street
ADJOURNMENT:
Motion: Veronique moved to adjourn the meeting at 7: 35 PM. Floyd Winters seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
